PTO Sponsored Programing

The PTO sponsors various WMS curriculum enrichment opportunities for the students that are not accounted for within the school district budget.  The PTO's funding for this special programming comes from your donations, your membership fees and the profits from the Fooddays lunch program.

The money goes on teacher Mini Grants and various cultural arts programming, Parent and Student speaker events on current topics of concern, assemblies, wellness and other activities geared to introduce students to successful collaborative team-working.

WMS PTO donated all the WMS Sales profits made from the 2021-22 District Art Show to the WMS Art Department.

WMS PTO also donated all the profits from the 2022-23 Book Fair to the WMS Library for the use of the the Librarian Mrs Shimko.

All WHRHS Students who attended Warren Middle School for 3 years, plus at least one year in a Warren Public Elementary School,  and still reside in Warren Township, are eligible to apply for the Warren Schools PTO Scholarships.  The 5 Warren PTO's offer 2 scholarships of $750 each, funded by their memberships.

The selection process is undertaken blind.  Knowledge of the names of the students is not available to those assessing their applications it truly is based on all-around merit of the applicant.

This is the announcement read at Senior Awards Night

"It was a difficult one this year , as we were impressed with the talents, depth of skills, service and future plans of the applicants.
It was an impressive portfolio of student achievement to say the least.

The PTO Presidents of the 5 Warren Township Schools are proud to award these scholarships to two young people who have demonstrated both social engagement and consistently strong academics.  We wish them both luck in their chosen college studies, and we hope that they remember their time in the Warren Township Schools fondly as they embark on their future endeavors.

Congratulations to Student 233940 and Student 233380

Sincerely

Cultural Arts
In 2019-20 the PTO has been asked to donate $10,000 to fund the WMS Cultural Arts Programs.

On Monday, November 4, 2019, the WMS PTO sponsored a team building program for sixth grade students that was conducted by Optimal Performance Associates.

This organization conducts team building activities throughout New Jersey for elementary, middle and high school students.

Sixth grade students worked in groups of 15 with a facilitator and teacher for ninety minutes and thanks to the beautiful weather, the training was held outside.

The goal of the program was to allow students, in an experiential, fun way, to develop positive peer relationships and problem solving skills.  In addition, sixth grade teachers conducted a sixty minute team building activity in their classrooms.

There are two 7th grade science programs delivered by The Wetlands Institute and Fin, Fur, Feathers - by Great Adventure Safari Park.

Mini Grants

Every year the PTO funds special requests from the WMS teachers for ideas/activities outside of the school budget through Mini-Grants.  This is just one of the many ways that your donations directly enhance your students school day!

In the 2020-21 school year if our finances permit, we hope that we will be able to again provide mini-grants for enhancing the digital learning experience.

Mini Grant for Science!

Last year 2018-19, Mrs. Miller, a 6th grade science teacher, requested Breakout EDU.  This is an immersive learning game platform that brings the challenges of an escape room to the classroom while aligning with the curriculum.

On Halloween this year, the 6th Grade White Team participated in their own escape room!  The whole class worked together to get all the keys and combinations to unlock and ‘escape’ the room!

Your generous donations and purchasing lunch through Food Days helps fund these important and enriching programs.
